Paraben Free Products for Skin Care - What is Paraben & What Can it Do to You?
Paraben free products are better and safer. Skin care products containing parabens have been found to be potentially dangerous to your health. You sure don't want parabens in anything.
What is paraben? It is the most commonly used synthetic preservatives.
There is more than one. There is a whole class of them. They ensure a long shelf life in cosmetics by inhibiting the growth of harmful bacteria, yeast and mold in beauty products.
"Natural" cosmetics use mainly plant-based and naturally-derived ingredients. They are formulated with little or no parabens.
So that's all good and well, but how can you tell if your products contain parabens? Here are some steps you can take.
1. Look on the label for the following ingredients: methylparaben, propylparaben, isoparaben, or butylparaben. They are all parabens used in cosmetics.
2. Find out which company makes the products you use. See if they have an ingredient list available on the product or on their web site.
3. Try emailing or calling the company and asking them if their products contain parabens.
If your cosmetic company is not forthcoming with this information, you may want to purchase your products from another company.
Some women worry that their cosmetics will not last as long if these artificial ingredients are not used. Companies can use alternative stabilizers. Parabens are just easier to obtain and cheaper to use.
There are companies that have committed to being paraben-free. These companies do not use parabens for preservation, but instead use other procedures, packaging choices, and ingredients to achieve product stability.
Paraben free products are the wave of the future. Companies will be forced by health conscious consumers to take the natural and healthy approach in manufacturing their products instead of the cheap and easy way.
Why is Paraben Free products important to you? It's a movement that's just beginning and will change the way cosmetics and other products are manufactured and packaged.
