Choosing Where To Live

Before you sign on the dotted line for that new house or apartment, remember to double-check the neighbourhood to make sure it has everything you need. You will already have checked out the house, but if you intend to live there for any length of time, the surroundings are as important. What you need in your neighbourhood will depend a lot on your age group and life-style.

For instance, if you are young and intend to start a family - or already have one you will want to be reasonably close to a school and maybe sporting facilities. Are there other young families in the area? Your children will be happier with their friends close by so they can play at the weekends. You will like to have the same age group adults to talk to.

If you are retired, you might consider your health. Are their doctors and hospitals near enough to be convenient? What about public transport for when you must give up your car licence? Retired people often like to have clubs of some kind nearby for social interaction. And it also helps if there is a mall or corner store within walking distance, so getting the groceries is easier.
