It is that time of the year when new trends hit the fashion scene. This season the brogue is a hit in footwear. In the early 19th century, brogue shoes were worn by Scottish and Irish workers and farmers, who labored all day in the clammy bogs of the countryside. At the time, they were purely used as a functional shoe. Today, however, with a little tweaking, it has been modified to modern tastes, to suit different occasions.

More and more shoe designers are experimenting with the brogue today. Although the basic structure is the same with wooden soles and perforations on the top of the shoe, different styles have been incorporated for different occasions. It still remains a favorite for formal occasions and corporate wear, but newer designs such as the casual style is good for informal events as well.

Brogue shoes have also come out with variants designed especially for women. They're sleeker in style, with laces, but come in colors that suit female tastes, such as white, tan, beige, off-white and even bold tones of red and blue. The heel size, of course, differs to give it a more feminine look. They can be worn to work as well as to formal get-togethers and luncheons. Not only do the look gorgeous, but also add a no-nonsense touch to your personality.

The casual range of the brogue is the newest style this season. These shoes come in the form of sneakers and are perfect to be worn with jeans and other casual wear. They look simply hip and are very popular with youngsters and college students, due to their comfort and durability. They're also made in bright colors to suit young tastes. In fact, recently manufacturers have even brought out a special collection for kids. These are even suitable for school or special events.

One design that suits both men and women is that of brogue boots. These ankle-length boots are available in a variety of colors that go well with almost any outfit. Women can pair them with jeans, skits and dresses, while men can wear them with trousers, cargos and denims. They're a one-stop solution to all your footwear needs.
