People usually work out for a variety of reasons. It may be for health, to lose weight, gain mass and so on. No matter what your reasons are, the most common benefit you get from working out is build muscle mass to create muscle! It's your muscles that help you get that overall toned look and help to kick that fat away.

In order to achieve this you need to understand a few things, and we've enumerated them as follows:

1.Get to know your body and you'll be happy that you did. You must understand how your body works first and know what it's capable of doing. Don't just hit the weights without first knowing the hows and whys; you might be in for a disappointment or worse a world of pain! Know first how strong your body is, what's your weak areas and you begin to build a baseline data where you can start off with your workout then you can make your progress from there.

2.Don't just do your workouts, feel them and emphasize slow, controlled movements. When working out doing fast reps may give you the bulk, but you're putting yourself at risk for injury especially if you're a beginner. Doing it slowly and concentrating on the feel of the weight, the tension on your muscles and controlling your movements help force your muscle to work hard. You'll end up not only with bulk but also better definition!

3.Mind your reps and sets. There's really no definite standard as to how many reps or sets you can do. Know rather that it is best usually to bulk up first by doing low reps (4 - 10) heavy weights in 2 to 3 sets, then follow this with light weights with high reps (12-15) in 3 to 5 sets! And remember always to vary your exercise and load to keep your muscles from getting bored! Remember also to stretch out after workouts to keep your muscles loose and strong and avoid injury.

4.Eat your way to build bigger muscles. It's no secret that part of gaining mass is to watch what you eat! Loading up on high quality proteins such as chicken, beans or whey and cutting the bad fat helps your muscle grow. Aside from this, mix in some really good carbs like whole grain and it'll give you a boost of energy that you really need. They also help the proteins in repairing your muscles and make them grow bigger. Just be aware to keep the fat off and do your cardios as well. You may also want to take supplements that help build muscles like Multivitamins, creatine, fish oil, whey protein and L-Carnitine. Follow these tips and you won't be sorry.
