Anxiety attacks can happen to anyone at any time and when they do occur, it can be terrifying for the sufferer. An anxiety attack is characterized by many symptoms, some of these include strong fear, tightness of the chest, difficulty breathing and dizziness. The most commonly asked question by people who have experienced anxiety attacks is what has caused them.

People who suffer from anxiety attacks more than once or on a regular basis, have a condition called anxiety disorder. Patients who suffer from regular and severe panic attacks can often have trouble leading a normal life. Anxiety attacks are related to the body's natural response to fear. When the body senses imminent danger, it will use the fight or flight response. Although anxiety attacks have the same reaction in the body, there is no real danger present or reason for the response.

Anxiety Attack Cause.

Nobody is really sure exactly what causes an anxiety attack because there are a large number of things that can trigger them in different people. Some of the triggers of an anxiety attack may include stressful events in a person's life, drastic changes, depression or alcohol abuse. Even though these things are common triggers they are not the only anxiety attack causes.

Often health conditions or medication a person is taking can be an anxiety attack cause. This also includes people who have been taking alcohol or heavy drugs for long periods of time, then suddenly stop taking them. Often people can have an anxiety attack triggered by fear of having another anxiety attack. Anxiety attacks are hereditary - if you have family members who suffer from anxiety attacks, this can also be an anxiety cause.

How Do You Know If You Have Anxiety Attacks?

There is no medical procedure or test that tells you that you suffer from anxiety attacks and if you suffer from an attack, it is important to visit your doctor. Often anxiety attacks can have symptoms that are the same as other health problems, so by visiting your doctor you can both rule out serious medical conditions, and your doctor may be able to discuss things in your life that could be the cause of your anxiety attacks. By not treating anxiety attacks, patients run the risk of becoming depressed or developing other problems such as alcohol or drug abuse.

Know Your Triggers, Know Your Anxiety Attack Cause.

The best way to find out what is causing your anxiety attacks is to find out what is triggering them. Your doctor or a counselor may be able to help you with this and teach you natural techniques, such as relaxation exercises, to help control the severity of attacks. If your anxiety attacks are very severe, there are medications that may be prescribed to you by your doctor, along with techniques to control the condition.
