Marriage is something that will influence and affect your life in this world. You must ask God first for guidance and knowledge about this. If you think that marriage is a perfect bliss then you don't know that many are filled with heartaches and bound by the marriage vow that they cannot break. There are thousands that are mated but are not matched. You must haste slowly in the choice of a companion. The path of married life may appear beautiful and full of happiness; but why may not you be disappointed as thousands of others have been?

You must consider what will be the character and influence of the home you are founding. As you and your partner become parents, a sacred trust is committed to you. Upon you depends the well-being of your children. You determine both the physical and the moral stamp that the little ones receive. Upon the character of your home depends the condition of society; the weight of each family's influence will tell in the upward or the downward scale.

You should take great care in the formation of friendships and in the choice of companions. Beware; what you now think to be pure gold turns out to be base metal. Weigh every sentiment, and watch every development of character in the one with whom you think to link your destiny. The step you are about to take is one of the most important in your life and should not be taken hastily.

Examine carefully to see if your married life would be happy or wretched. Will this union increase my love for God and will enlarge my sphere of usefulness? Don't think that the only question for you to settle is whether you love each other. You must realized that a responsibility rests upon your marriage relation farther than this. You should consider whether your offspring will possess physical health and mental and moral strength.
