Blinds Versus Curtains

Your choice is a very large selection. These would include choosing from: fabric blinds in roller form, reverse rollers (which means the blind rolls and works from the bottom of the window up), Roman blinds, Austrian blinds, festoon blinds, pull-up and balloon blinds. Other options are: wooden or plastic venetian blinds and mini blinds or vertical louvre blinds made of metal, wood or stiffened fabric. You can also choose other styles or fabrics such as, bamboo, rattan, matchstick, paper or pinoleum blinds.

The biggest advantage blinds have over curtains is that they are usually less expensive and simpler to install. You also use less fabric for the softer blinds and it is shown off better and compliments the room much better. They bring more elegance to a room and seem crisper and reveal much more spare than curtains and do extremely well in a modern room. They can also be fixed in two separate ways, either within the window's reveals or outside the frame. They may also be paired up with curtains, particularly in such areas as bay or French windows or simply when the curtains are very complicated and you don't want to remove and refit them. Then the best option is to have both the blind of your choice matched with the already existing curtains.

Although these factors need to be taken into consideration when choosing whether or not you fit blinds or curtains. A couple of other things you will need to consider when making your choice are:

1. Budget
2. Color
3. Room setting
4. Window area
