Remember Who You Are
When others want to spar
Verbally abuse
Telling what you're not
You remember who you are!
Identity is ultimately destiny.
Your self-esteem
Your ability to be self-aware
Handle yourself with
Tender loving care
Despite others irreverence
Regardless of their disregard
Don't let their words and thoughts
Diminish you or your personhood retard
Properly manage your emotions
Stand upright through all the commotion
Be the bigger man
And prove your critics to be wrong
In your darkest hour
Sing a joyful song
Do it for you
Not for them
Love you
No matter what others do
Speak well of and to you
Though others may belittle you
Uphold and love on you
Though others try to tear you down
You inwardly let your self-love abound
Overcome evil with good
Be bold and courageous
Like a grown man should
Outlast their erroneous words and behavior
Keep your eyes fixed on Christ your Savior
Jehovah-nissi, the God of victory
Will lead you through the mightily
Take you through the wilderness
Raise you over the circumstance
Draw you near when you feel distant
Be your nearby Friend every instant
Comfort you as a Father
Encourage you as a soldier
Reward you as an employer
Provide adventure for you the explorer
Nurture you when you're tired and weary
Embrace you when from life you're dreary
Hug and kiss you when you're eyes teary
Mend your heart when it is torn
Strengthen your body when it is worn
Perfect and establish all components
Of your personal well-being
Reminding you that you're a human being
Not merely a human doing
Not merely performing
Not merely providing
Not here simply satisfying
When you've given your all
And seemingly it's not enough
When you've loved unconditionally
And people have treated you rough
Remember who you are
You're the diamond in the rough
Love tenderly, but inwardly be tough
Guard your heart with all due diligence
As it is the wellspring of life
Live large
Be in charge
But most importantly
Remember who you are!
