Christmas is a special time of the year and although many people find it stressful, it does not need to be. You should enjoy spending time with family and friends, since for many people, Christmas is the only time of the year that these people are seen. To make the Christmas season less stressful for you and your family, you should plan some fun activities to lessen the stress and make the holidays even more memorable and enjoyable.

Are you stumped for ideas on what sorts of fun activities you can do with your friends and family? Don't get stressed about yet another thing like that! It's really not a difficult question at all, where possibilities range from traditional things to even the more not-quite-as-traditional activities.

One way that many people find success with when trying to think of fun family activities is to remember back to their own childhood days and remember things that you did with your parents or relatives or friends. Maybe some of those things that had almost been a regular part of the holiday season have fallen by the wayside over the years. If that is the case, maybe it's time to bring them back!

Create an atmosphere that creates memories. For example, one standard holiday tradition in many households is baking cookies and then decorating them. You have many to choose from, including favorites like chocolate chip, gingerbread and even simple sugar cookies. Then have some friends over to help you eat the cookies. Not only do the cookies taste great, but the smell of freshly baked cookies will fill your house, and when you smell freshly baked cookies during the year, you will have warm and pleasant thoughts about Christmas at home.

You could also bake other things like peanut brittle, fudge, or maybe even taffy. Or you can get even more creative and make some chocolate covered pretzels or pretzel sticks. And of course, especially if you live further north where it gets chilly at this time of year, be sure to have some hot cocoa around with whipped cream. Yummy!

Take time in the evenings to get away from the tv for a few hours each night and listen to some good Christmas music. Whether your musical tastes run to the traditional classics or contemporary Christian artists or country western or classical, it is extremely easy to find great CDs at very low prices featuring great Christmas music.

Have you ever thought about cutting down your own Christmas tree at one of those Christmas tree farms? If there is one local to you, you should really take the whole family out there to have everybody agree on the right Christmas tree, then cut it down yourself to take home and decorate.

As you gather with friends and family over the Christmas holidays, be sure to take a lot of pictures. Some pictures will be posed for, and others should be action shots where people are just captured doing whatever they are doing at that moment. These pictures will be remembered and treasured throughout the years as you create yet another Christmas to be remembered.
