Impending Danger

Impending danger
War without end
A President at the helm
Who does not listen or bend
Diplomacy is not his friend
Neither is cooperation
As he prefers thwarting
Nuclear proliferation
Demonizing Congressional dissidents
Believing his war cabinet
To alone be brilliant
War mongers in the White House
I propose we paint it red
Because we desire world war instead
It seems none pray nor lift up their heads
Though using religious rhetoric
When it is time to vote and elect
Yet once in office
They despise the commandments
Thou shalt not kill
Apparently doesn't register
Only the monetary ledger
Is giving adequate attention
Obtaining oil for corporation nation
Renewable fuel sources and business at home
From this we stray and roam
New Orleans, Hurricane Katrina
Forget those people
The President is todo poderosa
Self-exalting and often erroneous
Consistently however is he pretentious
Pontificating and pious
Why is it he continually defies us?
We the American people
Who he claims to represent
Is it because he is totally hell bent
Bound to perform his own will
Why can't he listen
To those on Capitol Hill
Does he cease to even feel?
I don't have all the answers
However this I know
Politics is often quite a vain show
A power hungry profession
As politicians push for personal gain
Nation building and fear peddling
Purporting to have our national interest at heart
If so, than attend to matters at home
That would be a good start
Meddling in other's internal affairs
With such we oft should not care
Hence the impending danger
That does draw near
As we irritate the international community
Project our own immunity, run from all scrutiny
Deny our bad decisions and shun our duty
Operate like the mafia in utter secrecy
A clandestine cover up
A Presidential conspiracy
Excessive Presidential powers
Insulated by governmental bureaucracy
Throwing curveballs politically
Deception, detours, and renaming the enemy
Misguiding and misdirecting intel fully
Foolishly listening to our VP Dick Cheney
A Halliburton buddy out to make money
Push for pipelines abroad despite the bloodshed
Such leaders disregard their hearts
And quiet their heads
Hence they toss and turn on their beds
Not knowing what is ahead
Colin Powell enthusiastically read the script
Than acted like he didn't know what he said
Such leadership reeks with moral depravity
American soldiers dying unnecessarily
This war on terror is utter insanity.
The blow-back from such carelessness
Will bankrupt our economy
Destroy our global credibility
And at home cost us dearly
Jeopardizing our national security
By increasing enemy hostility.
Our impending danger removes all tranquility
Because more violence is approaching rapidly.
Sometimes we are our own worst enemy.
