Did you know that over the last three decades body piercing and body tattooing have become ever more predominant in known cultures? Body tattooing and body piercing have been perceived by many cultures as few of their forms of arts. These are just two of the body marking techniques which have been used in wide range of cultures. Some of the other techniques are scarification and painting. Why do some cultures make use of body piercing and body tattooing? Both ancient and contemporary cultures require their natives to engage to any of the mentioned body marking techniques either for body decoration or for communication purposes. Any of these markings give information about group membership, rank, and status. The body modification through tattooing and piercing are along with plastic surgery, gender reassignment, cutting, branding, inserting implants for body appearance and form's alteration. The contemporary cultures of body tattooing and body piercing are appealing to adolescents who are of different races and cultures and who are into struggles for identity and body control. Some groups of people believe that the bigger the body tattoo is and the greater the number of body pierced areas is, the braver a person is in many aspects. But this belief is covered by some particular cultures and is not applicable to all humankind. The adolescents of nowadays who are slightly rebellions, are into fraternities, or are simply struggling for identity; prefer any of the body modifications for varied reasons.

Did you know that you can avoid serious complications after the piercing procedure and during the healing process? Punching a hole into your skin means that you are exposing your open wound to germs. It also means that you are risking your health because of possible infections like prolonged bleeding, skin allergies due to the skins reaction to the type of metal used as jewelry. But the good news is; you can have a body pierce without endangering your health. The following should be observed: the first thing that you should do is to investigate the shop where you choose to have your body pierced. It should be clean and safe for the customers. It should have an autoclave or a sterilizing machine and it should keep the instruments sealed in a packet. You should make sure that the person doing the piercing procedure washes his or her hand with germicidal soap and he or she wears disposable gloves during the piercing. Of course, the instruments he/she uses should be sterilized. Another is that you should make sure that the needle used is not re-used. The needle should be new. Lastly, you should make sure you dont have allergies to certain types of metals. Use only the non-toxic metals for body piercing such as surgical steel, solid 14 karat or 18 karat gold, niobium or titanium.

Did you know that teens do secure some prerequisites before they are admitted to piercing and tattooing centers? Out of fashion and/or peer pressures, some teens enthusiastically ask some friends and members of the family circle about where to find the right and safe place for piercing, where only the licensed staff executes the operation. Not all states or places around the world have licensed piercers because even with little training, anyone does do piercing. The teens must abide by the rules of the Association of Professional Piercers, which is the piercers professional organization. How could a teen know that he is in the right place? He must find on the wall the certification that states that the piercer is registered affiliate of APP. A parents or guardians consent must be sought by a minor aged person. Parental consent might not be a prerequisite that is applicable for all states or places. Tattooing centers are available anywhere. Out of experiment, a group of teens or some individuals might aval some body arts. There are centers which do not have much strict policies with regard to the tattooing of teens. The teens must bear the pain and must be willing to undergo the whole procedure, which are necessary before the operation is begun. Generally, aside from chipping in the fees for body tattooing and piercing, there is no other requisite which the client has to comply.

Did you know that some teens find it hard to convince their parents of their wants to have tattoo or body piercing? There are unsolved issues between the parents and the children which are coined as generation gap. Hence, there are times that what is cool to the children is unacceptable to the parents. How does a teen resolve his wanting or his assumed need to be acceptable to his peer group? For adolescents, acceptance is a big issue that helps them determines their self-identity. Who would want to be rejected from a group? Of course, every teen would presumably do everything just to be accepted no matter how high the stakes are. A teen that has been rejected is likely to suffer from damaged self-esteem and scarred emotion. Is acceptance the sole bottom line why some teens would persevere much in convincing their parents to allow them to have their tattoos and piercing? Acceptance is just one of the influential factors that drive a teen to get his parents approval. Tattoo or piercing is merely a passing fad, but this is a big deal for a number of teens. The parents must be involved in the decision of whether to have the tattoo or piercing because some projected risks must be well-understood.

Did you know why parents are not amenable to body tattoos and piercing? We may say that some parents seem to be coming from the old school because they hardly can understand about fads. Most of them would label tattoos and piercing as exclusively for the criminals and gangsters. They may have their own perceptions different from how a teen of the contemporary times view body tattooing and piercing as the art. Some would acquire tattoos and piercings to appear tougher and rebellious. Many people know that most of the tattoos are done in prison cells; hence a stereotyping has been formed about tattoos. Most the parents are not amenable to body tattoos and piercing because they perceive their children as their invaluable gems who are innocents and whom they do not want to be harmed. If you really are determined to have the body tattoos and piercing, youve got to have the strong reasons that could withstand the line of arguments of your parents. You have to be equipped with effective reasoning. However, contemplating about being tattooed and pierced is a crucial decision that should not only be driven by the fads or cool labels because its being cool as a reason will likely not sustain you to keep the tattoo or piercing until old age. You may help however your parents understand about the credibility of some tattoos and piercing studios which must not be a big issue. You may embrace the value of waiting as a better alternative than to jump to your want. What do you really want to do in your life? Can your tattoos and piercing help you become better person? Then, upon assessing the value of your decision, you must be ready.
