CCTV are being used by many organizations to take note of illegal activities like shoplifting or robberies. However, a CCTV is no use without a monitor as you will not be able to see the images the CCTV captures.

CCTV monitors come in different shapes and sizes. They also have different resolutions. You can have a monitor that is black and white or colored; with audio or without audio. If you are going for a good security camera system, then it is important to pay heed to the type of monitor you would like to purchase along with it.

Individuals going for monitors invariably opt for TVs to capture the image. This is okay as long as you are not wanting a high quality image. CCTVs use horizontal line to present an image. These line can vary from 380 horizontal lines in black and white cameras to 330 in colored ones. A TV produces less horizontal lines when compared to CCTV. Therefore, the image quality is not too good.

However, if you are looking for good resolution images then a CCTV monitor is a must. This type of monitor produces anywhere between 900 to 1000 horizontal lines ensuring that the image quality gets enhanced leading to superior image.

Many CCTV monitors are now coming with built in audio system so that you can not only capture the sound but also speak to through it. Present day CCTV monitors also allow you to view more than one camera simultaneously. This is specially ideal for companies who have many cameras.

CCTV monitors are not very expensive. A simple black and white monitor costs just over $150 while a better monitor can cost up to $400. The price ultimately depends on the type of monitor you need and opt for.
