The Now (Part 1 of 3): Challenge Your Stinkin' Thinkin' - And Win!

"I am my own worst enemy!" How often have you said that about yourself, or heard someone else say it? Sadly, it is usually true.

What are the under-currents of that stinkin' thinkin'? The simple explanation is that unhealthy, outmoded and limiting beliefs are repeatedly interfering in the person's life.

Our intentions might be clear, good, honorable and goal-oriented, but somehow the path we choose develops an enormous sinkhole! Why does that happen time and time again for so many people?

Typically, we are the ones who sabotage our desires and ambitions. So, if we realize that our own thinking and beliefs are not serving us in healthy ways, why do we keep going around in that circle allowing them to lead us? I offer this: because it is so very hard to let go, and so difficult to accept new truths.

Try as we might to convince ourselves that we are worthy, or that we do not need to please others first, or that the hurts of the past are gone and should be forgotten, or that success doesn't mean losing friends, or that having wealth doesn't equate to being greedy, even evil - we still don't really believe those things.

It is a shame that we readily believe untruths about ourselves and about the world in which we live. Rather than focus on where all the negative beliefs we hold on to come from, and how we allowed them to take root, I want to focus on ways to eliminate them forever!

I could list a series of how to's, and although the words would add to your self-development knowledge, they would just be more theory. You would intellectually understand the points, however the process would not be experiential. When you actually experience a new belief, it sticks.

Assuming you already know your self-talk isn't what you want it to be; assuming you have already tried to use positive affirmations but felt like they were simply lies; and assuming you have understood the Law of Attraction and perhaps the Law of Quantum Resonance, but know you are not sending out and receiving the kind of energy to manifest your desires - then I suggest you need help with your inner reprogramming.

I recommend that you stop trying to take your inner journey alone in the dark. Find a personal coach. Learn how life coaching works and choose someone who will share your values and inspire as well as challenge you.

Further, I suggest you take full advantage of guided meditation, success conditioning, and hypnosis technologies readily available on CD's and MP3's. You can find many success stories and testimonials attesting to the power of such resources. One common, and important, benefit is the quieting of rapid-fire, random, distracting and often destructive thoughts. That in itself is liberating.

Some hypnosis products include belief-reframing methods using neurolinguistic programming (NLP) in combination with brainwave enhancing technologies. Truly amazing tools!

Your consciousness and emotions are freed to experience new states of reality. This provides a healthier inner environment for generating positive, creative energies, which WILL help greatly in challenging those harmful old beliefs - that stinkin' thinkin'!

My emphasis here is to assure you that you CAN become your own best friend. My strongest recommendation is to find a trusted mentor, and to incorporate customized tools to help you while you learn to replace your old self-talk with winning thoughts and strategies.

You will also need to discover and practice living in the moment. Live in the Now, which is the only place and time you will ever have to think, feel, make decisions and take action. It can always only happen in the Eternal Now.

More information about living in the Now and what it means in your pursuit of happiness, fulfillment and life purpose is coming up in Parts 2 and 3 of this article series.
