Electrician of Orange County takes care of safety first, because handling electricity can be dangerous. Though electricity is a thing without which we cannot live comfortably for even a day, it is equally fatal to handle. The electricians do different kinds of work, like dimmer light installation.

Installation of a dimmer light switch can be an easy process, but the first requirement is safety, of course. The electrician of Orange County or a local worker, for example, a Fullerton electrician, provides a step by step account about this installation. You can be well aware about if the electrician is working properly and he or she is taking care of safety of himself as well as you and your family if you know the following steps.

First you should observe that the electrician switches off the main circuit. This is necessary. Then he should place a tape on the circuit breaker as an indication of the break of power. It is also a caution for all not to switch it on while the work is going on.

Then the electrician of Orange County should make sure that it is danger-free to carry on the work, by double-checking the light switch to ensure that the power is off. Then he will use a screwdriver to take out the screws that keeps the old switch faceplate in place. After the faceplate is taken out, he will test the light switch to watch if the volt meter catches any electrical trace. Then he will take out the screws that hold the light box in the wall. Then he will pull the light box to take it out for about 2 inches to give him leeway to make the changes. Then he will remove the wires which are at the back of the old switch with the help of needle nose pliers.

Most of the new dimmer light switches have only two black wires. It makes no difference which black wire is connected to the dimmer switch wires. After connecting these wires the electrician of Orange County or a Fullerton electrician should place a wire nut at the ends of the open wire to hold back the wires from shorting out or tripping. Better he place a peace of additional electrical tape around the wire nut. The dimmer switch has a green color wire named ground wire. He will then connect the white ground wire which comes from the wall to the green ground wire located on the dimmer switch. He will place a wire nut and tape there too. At last he will push the installed dimmer switch in the electrical wall box, replace the screws of the faceplate to fit it in the wall and switch on the power again at the main circuit breaker or fuse box.
