Reduce Cholesterol With Low Cholesterol Diets

Cholesterol is a fatty substance in blood that is essential to human life because it is instrumental in building and repairing cells, the production of sex hormones like estrogen and testosterone, converting bile acids to aid in digestion of food and the production of vitamin D. Cholesterol is manufactured by the liver and other organs and consumed via animal fat. In the human body large amounts of it are found in brain and nerve tissue.

High cholesterol in the blood is considered to be unhealthy and that causes atherosclerotic plaque and coronary artery disease.

This buildup of cholesterol in the blood vessels may inhibit the flow of blood to and from the heart.

Cholesterol and your diet:

Diets which are rich in animal fats, meat, Organ meats, egg yolks and dairy products are rich source of cholesterol.

A low cholesterol diet contains extremely low value or no cholesterol at all.

Low cholesterol diet must contain:

Low cholesterol

Low sodium contents.

Low in fat (saturated fat)

Rich in fiber

Rich in complex carbohydrates

Also consumption of sugar and alcohol should also be reduced

Exercise plays an important rule in decrease cholesterol levels at the blood.

Omega-3 fatty acid that may help to lower blood cholesterol you can find it in deep-sea fish -- mackerel, salmon and tuna

Special Considerations:

Fish should be eaten often, 3 or more times per week.

Avoid high sodium content in foods.

Increase complex carbohydrates, (pasta, whole grains, and potatoes) in the diet.

Eat dietary fiber every day.

Avoid fast food restaurants.

Regular check is important to measure your cholesterol level.
