Geographical businesses are in a majority of cases are missing out on vast numbers of potential clients because people cant find these businesses on the internet.
From Handymen and Builders through Florists and cake makers and onwards to engineers, architects and professional services, people are looking online for these services every day.

Even though nearly all of these companies will have an online presence of some kind, it?s not being totally exploited to maximise it?s capability.
As an online marketing consultant I see it all the time ? trying to make small regional business realize the truth is hard but a necessity. The fact of the matter is that people are looking for a service or product ? they are not looking for a company. All they want is a solution to a problem, issue (call it what you will) that they need solved.

Noboby Cares who you are online.

If they knew who the company was that they were looking for, then the chances are that they would search for that company in Google, Yahoo, Bing etc..... The problem is that a majority of people are still searching for their solution.

Everyday 100?s of 1000?s of regional searches are carried out in Google alone. These are for searches such as ?Decorator in Peterborough?, ?Photographer in Essex?, ? Cake Designer in London? to name just a few ? the list is virtually endless.

Because more and more people are practicing the internet the function of the world wide web is going beyond the supply of information, stretching past the point of buy online and rapidly taking over the place where the likes of Yellow Pages and Thomson Directory once stood. In current times people are more often than not using the internet to fulfil their searching, and the days of letting your fingers do the walking are rapidly drawing to an end.

In short, Local online Business Marketing is the way forward for most small businesses, especially those that provide a service to a geographical or restricted area. Ensuring that the business website within the top results for specific phrases within search engines is a sure fire way of a successful internet marketing strategy.

Search Engine Optimisation, along with a good attention of internet marketing (yes, these are 2 entirely different areas) will provide any business with an online force to be envied. Including the vital area of Keyword Research to asses search phrase popularity will build a business?s online presence towards online domination.
