If you can't decide what color to paint your home this year or in the near future then take inspiration from the colors that are popular right now. Just go and find any home and garden or decorating magazine and you'll be presented with the a wide variety of colors, combinations and styles. These will give you a precise idea of exactly what is "hot" right now in terms of home painting colors.

There's one key factor to bear in mind before you start painting all your rooms with the "in vogue" colors you found - not all colors suit all people or homes. Just because a specific shade of green is currently popular doesn't mean you need to cover your entire home in that particular color. Make sure that the colors you're choosing for your home are colors that you'll enjoy looking at for the next few years. If none of the current and popular colors are going to work in your home then simply don't use them. Destroying your homes ambience in favor of being fashionable makes no sense at all.

Ever popular colors for home decorating are buff. This is a type of off-white, neutral color that goes well with pretty much any other color in the spectrum. Because it's not a plain white it can easily lend a warm tone to any room in your house. If your rooms needs to be remain somewhat neutral then using buff is a good wall color to base the room scheme on.

Blue has always been popular for interior rooms but bear in mind there are many shades of blue. Lighter shades of blue have traditionally been popular for bathrooms, living rooms and bedrooms. People are now becoming more adventurous in their choice of shades of blue with slate and navy growing in popularity - not always as a base color for a room though. These darker shades are used more in trim than large wall area painting.

If you're planning to use bold colors, like blue for example, in a room bear in mind that it can make the room much darker (dark colors reflect less light). If you're going to be choosing or using dark colors in any room in your home make sure that it is very well lit.

Coral, red and light green are also colors that have become increasingly popular so why not have a look at these as possible alternatives to your standard color choices?

For most people the really difficult part is deciding what to pair their chosen color with. Pairing colors has never been an easy task but use decorating and painting magazines for inspiration - you'll be presented with very clear examples of what colors work together and those that definitely do not.
