Love Beyond Comprehension

Love is a dream
Marriage is an alarm clock
Infatuation gives you butterflies
Selfishness matrimony will crucify
Before meeting your perfect match
You are desperately lonely
Upon marrying your perfect match
You sometimes miss your privacy
Without the woman of your dreams
You long for true love and intimacy
Inwardly yearning and pursuing
Without a moment's hesitancy
Dating the wrong people
True love seems illusory
Persistently you persevere
Believing it to find you eventually
Doggedly determined you go forth
Aggressively without any hesitancy
Fully willing to show love's vulnerability
Yet once married
And scolded critically
It is easy to feel differently
At least momentarily
That is when you must remember
Recall the wonderful qualities
That first brought you together
What attracted you in the first place
Lest you allow the peculiarities
To irritate, drive you apart, and disgrace
The wonderful love the two of you
Joined together for and said "I do" to
Before marriage it's all romance
To some sexy leather and lace
Afterward however
A deeper love is discovered
Or the lack thereof
That is apart from a commitment
Beyond the first kiss and embrace
Some quickly and abruptly move on
As if in a timed race
Having no charm, heart, or grace
Apparently they were all about the chase
The catch, the conquer, the kill
Yet after they got theirs
Their intentions proved to be ill
Toxic and poisonous
Evil to the core
Seeking their own
And only looking for more
Love however is selfless
It gives beyond one's wants
It loves beyond one's ability
Even when there aren't feelings of tranquility
It endures the test of time
Despite all odds
It remains sublime
When embittered by circumstances
Muddied by miniscule challenges
Tempted by perilous tribulations
Overwhelmed by countless aggravations
Amazingly it sees beyond it all
Walks honorably and always stands tall
Such a supernatural love
Enables one to never fall
Never to retreat or withdraw
From the object of his affection
The princess he adores
Neither with her love
Does he ever bore
His thirst never quenched
He always thirsts for more
Divinely resurrected
Is this love day by day
It comes from God above
It increases when we pray
Powerful and patient
Is this love I know
No matter your experience
Relational highs or lows
It lifts you up
High above it all
Into the arms of the Creator
Who deeply and unconditionally
Mercifully loves us all
Heavenly Father
With such a love impregnate me
That my wife
I may wholeheartedly
Cherish and love tirelessly.
Until together
We gloriously
Stand before Thee.
