Rod Breakdown (RBD) Machine is used for drawing electrical wire for wire & cable Industry with the advantage of reduced manpower, quality supply, increased production capacity, power saving and many more. Nirmala Engineering Works specializes in manufacturing RBD machines which follows the concept of cold rolling, through which wire can be drawn 20-25% reduction per pass i.e. reduces downtime to a minimum level.

Rod Breakdown machine works as the most important facilities of the plant and generates good revenue at a low cost of production, if implemented properly and as per requirement of the type of finished wire.

Rod Breakdown (RBD) Machine classifieds itself into two types as:
1. Tandem Type RBD: It works at a speed of 10-25 mtr /sec. with motor power 100-250 HP to produce wire. Basically Tandem type RBD machine comprises of Capstan which are made of capstan rings which are High Carbon high chromium (HCHCr) approved which provides better quality of final product and is also safe for long term use. Tandem Type RBD machine get manufactured for big plants.

2. Step Cone Type RBD: It utilizes a speed of 6-8 mtr/sec. and motor power 75 HP- 125 HP to generate wire. Step Cone Type is installed in SSI units having minimum wire demand.

Rod Breakdown Machine also get differentiated as per wire types namely: Copper wire RBD machine, Aluminium wire RBD machine, Aluminium alloy wire RBD machine. Copper Wire RBD machine is used in cable industry to make winding wires with the specification to draw the wire directly from dia 8mm - 1.4 mm dia in a single pass, while on the other side aluiminium wire RBD machine is also used to make cable wire with the specifications to draw the wire from dia 9.5 mm - 1.62 mm dia in a single pass.

Apart from the above, Aluminium alloy wire RBD machine which is used to make conductors works on the specification divided into two phase namely first phase which draws the wire from 9.5 mm- 6mm and second phase which draws the wire from 6 mm - 1.62mm. the basic difference in using two phases lies with the second phase process under which wire/ cable first get heated on 800o C temp. approx for 3 hrs, then dropped in water to get cooled after that get dried by air or natural sunlight, then it becomes ready.

Rod Breakdown Machinery have their own special advantages which differentiates it from other machines as:
1. Rod break down machine reduces manpower as its specifications are so easy to apply that one man can operate two machines at a time.
2. Rod Breakdown machine increases production capacity as it is a high speed machine and having security its plus point due to its covered structure.
3. Rod breakdown machine saves power consumption by applying a 100 HP power inspite of other machinery needing 390 HP power producing same capacity of wire.
4. Under process of Rod breakdown machine, die reduction is less and cooling of wire is done by pressure jet pump thereby resulting in less scrap.
