2012 Multinational Corporations

One of the most powerful forces in the world today isn't the church, government, or yogi bears, but multinational corporations. And stuff, BIG STUFF, is going to have to happen over the next few years to transform the culture that they have built up and control. For my definition, let's go with, any company or enterprise operating in several countries, and one that has 25% or more of its output capacity located outside its country of origin. Ok?

We are in a rapidly fluid, dynamic, and changing world, so who's on top last year, may not be this year.

But, four largest multinationals have been Exxon Mobil, Wal-Mart Stores, General Motors, and Ford Motor, here in America. These are multinational coporations that INFLUENCE our society, big time. Their joint revenues are bigger than the economies of the African and South American continetns combined. Can you say really, really BIG?   :-)

While capitalism has great attributes, it has also caused damaging effects on people and environments due to the inherent need to take care of their shareholders regardless- within the law (most of the time). One of teh largest and fastest growing corporations that everyone looked to for ETHICS TRAINING no longer exists. Do you remember who that corporation was? Can you say ENRON?

More and more corporations are beginning to deal with the truth. It's mroe than GOING GREEN!

Multinational corporations both now and with each year "going forward" (a favorite Wall Street term) must deal with what's being called a "TRIPLE Bottom line". A commitment to the shareholders and profit is the first and most abused bottom line. That bottom line is better achied when the second bottom line (which used to be called the top line) is taken care of PEOPLE. But, as the world grows smaller with less and less resources, a third bottom line must come into play- the PLANET!

PEOPLE, PLANET, and PEOPLE! The 2012 change that the world needs!

Are you listening Barack and John?

As a spiritual-futurist my commentaries and articles deal primarily with an interpretation of current events in light of macro-universal forces at play.
