There's a fine line between erotica romance and pornography. However, Destiny Blaine seems to know which lines to cross and which ones to tow. She's become the master at placing the right sex scenes in the right spot and can she ever hit those high points!

Destiny Blaine is a published author with Mardi Gras Publishing. To talk to her, you can almost see the All-American girl who now raises a couple of kids in her home in Tri-Cities, Tennessee. When we've chatted with her on the phone, she seems to be more pre-occupied with her kids, their friends, and whatever ballgame is on television at the time than talking about sex but she will talk the talk if asked direct questions.

Still, Blaine is just down-to-earth. In fact, when talking to her, you forget that she writes the kind of scenes found in "Becoming a Mistress" or "Murder by Numbers" but she does and not only does she create the explicit scenes the readers crave, but she leaves nothing to the imagination!

Ms. Blaine isn't the only erotica romance author setting records. Apparently, there seems to be a growing number of romance writers who are incorporating a little more than your typical hanky-panky. While Blaine seems to be most interested in delivering a great story line along with some pretty explicit sex scenes, she does keep the story interesting. Her stories have a strong plot and her endings are typically unmatched which is why readers fall in love with her work.

Destiny Blaine is an erotica romance writer. As she puts it, "I write smut. I like writing smut. It's fun to write but I also write sweet, sensual, sexy, and then wrap it all into one story." However, don't be fooled, this Tennessee mother of two can write hard-core too. We've seen it. Still, it is erotica and it is still classified as romance because of the way she writes.

Romance, as a genre on its own merit tends to bring in a readership of about 51 million readers. This statistic is recorded at Wikipedia.com. However, it is actually estimated over half of those readers are interested in spicy, if not very explicit reading. This ensures a handsome income to the authors of good old fashioned erotic romance. Ms. Blaine and others should benefit since many authors in the genre have been knocking down unheard of sums long before it was okay to write erotica.

We asked Blaine about the income and found she gave us about as much as any other author in the romance or erotica romance genre. Only, she put her signature on her answer. "I'm told the more successful authors are making a very good living but I'm still wet behind the ears. Who knows? Maybe, this time ten years from now, we'll be sitting in the Bahamas drinking Apple Martinis and talking numbers." Based on what we've seen so far from Ms. Blaine, we have no doubts. She'll be putting up the big numbers in a very short period of time.

Mardi Gras Publishing chose to place Destiny Blaine on the map with her short stories. However, they have also placed themselves at the forefront of the industry with fabulous reads of varying lengths. They have the talents of many authors who seemingly know how to create the words that make every woman want to go out and purchase her next piece of lingerie as they plan for an erotic evening in the bedroom.

While the industry as a whole must fight off the affiliation with pornography, Blaine explained it best. When asked about the stigma attached to the industry, she sighed and then giggled a little, "Oh, there's a stigma? Wow, I didn't know." When probed (no pun intended) for more, she did add a tidbit or two.

"Look, it's a known fact that women have been sexually sheltered since the dark ages. However, today's woman is reading more and more erotica romance as long as it has some element of romance attached. You might even be surprised at what some of the readers of romance are searching out as their favorites. I'm telling you, not all of the titles classify as romance and they are flying off the virtual shelves of the internet in record numbers."

She went on to say, "I don't think there's a stigma within the circle of women who read these books and I think men read them more than you might think. In any case, with the numbers speaking for the industry as a whole, there's no doubt that erotica romance is here to stay. It's going to be selling more and more."

"People are becoming more comfortable with their sexuality and they want to read what erotica romance writers put into words. The industry isn't as taboo as many might imagine. If in doubt, consider the numbers you have. Over 51 million people read romance. Do you honestly think they read the sensual romance without wanting to see more? I don't think so. They want to see all they can see and then they want to imagine even more. It's the fantasy of having what you can't have at home."

We were a little brave and with Destiny, you never know what is going to come out of her mouth so we just asked her, "So you are saying that what you write is fantasy and not from experience?" Naturally, we wanted an answer.

She laughed but did offer this, "I know I write a lot of reality into what might be fantasy for some. However, some of what I've written for upcoming works would borderline with what is my fantasy, what's my reality, and where no one really dares to go and I believe, that's why it is so much fun to write. I also believe, it will be what sells books in the future. The hotter the sex the faster the book or short story will sell!"

We also asked about the porn factor. We asked Destiny if she thought erotica could be porn. She was quick to answer. "If you want to call it porn, call it porn. No one cares really. The fact remains that if you are buying erotica romance, you want to read about sex. You want the uninhibited, no-holds-barred, and hotter than the flames of hell sex! If that's porn to you, then I guess I can't change your mind. However, when you have a hot sex scene (or maybe five or six scenes but who's counting) coupled with a strong story and three-dimensional characters, it changes things. Some of the most talented writers are now in this industry. Why? Because they're making a killing writing about something pretty awesome in my book-so who cares what it's called. However, the truth is, if you want to be more politically correct, you will call it what it is-erotica romance".

While Ms. Blaine is still wrapped up with some of her non-fiction works, she promises 2007 will hold even more of her titles and seems content with the direction of her career. "I have three releases out through Mardi Gras Publishing with another due out in February. I hope to continue writing as a Mardi Gras author. The publishers, editors, cover artists, and authors are some of the best in the business and because of the super management behind Mardi Gras, the support is phenomenal!"

We understand why! Mardi Gras Publishing, still a relatively new publishing house is taking names and calling numbers. They're giving their competition a run for their money because they have top notch authors and are offering some of the best royalties in the business. If you're an author who is set on success, Mardi Gras is where you need to be as an author. For Ms. Blaine and others, when you are selling books and short stories as fast you can write them, it makes since to be where the money and the support is among the best in the industry!

Destiny Blaine is happy where she is. Mardi Gras Publishing gets a world of praise from her. "Wayne and Teresa Jacobs as well as Wendi Felter and everyone else who makes Mardi Gras stand out have done an extraordinary job. I can't imagine being anywhere else and I know I've been fortunate to have my titles picked up by them. Let's just say, Lady Luck smiled down graciously on me when they picked up my titles!" We think Destiny has a bright future ahead of her as well. After all, this small-town girl has a very, very, vivid and profoundly seductive way of weaving her words and she's developing quite a following in her own right.
