South Cheshire flooring company Flowcrete has made the move into Romania.

An office has been opened in Bucharest to tap into the growing number of construction projects coming online in the Eastern European country.

A new member of the EU, Romania is set to benefit from a number of grants to improve its infrastructure - including enhancements to its food manufacturing sites - a key market for Flowcrete's seamless resins.

As the economy improves, retail activity is also likely to increase - another key area for the company's decorative floors.

Flowcrete's Polish office, located in Warsaw, has been upgraded to include a distribution centre to service Eastern Europe. The company also has a presence in Talin, which serves the Baltic region, as well as Ukraine.

Together they all give Flowcrete a platform into Russia, a country the company has been closely monitoring for several years for business opportunities.

Mark Greaves, managing director of Flowcrete, which has its UK headquarters in Sandbach, Cheshire, said: "We see Eastern Europe as a major area for growth and setting up the Romanian office is part of that progressive expansion.

"There is a great deal of construction work planned there and we see it as a hotspot for the future."

Flowcrete manufactures specialist industrial flooring, seamless terrazzo, decorative resin flooring, self levelling floor screeds, underfloor heating, corrosion protection and car park deck waterproofing systems.

The company now has 30 offices worldwide, with manufacturing plants in the UK, USA, Malaysia, South Africa, Sweden and Belgium.
