Online List Building Techniques Part I
However, in order to start this process you need a supply of people you can regularly contact with your offers. Not just a supply of any people, but of people targeted to your kind of products. They must already have an interest in what you have to offer them. Your chances of making a sale are then vastly increased.
So where do you get a supply of such people? From your list of course. The list of people you will build using the list building techniques I am about to explain to you. The important factor regarding your list is that they are focused on your products, or the topic of your website, so the obvious people to have in your list are those that visited your site voluntarily, because they were interested in the content.
You first of all have to have an opt-in form on a page in your website that visitors can voluntarily fill in with their name and email address. The first name will do, and it's the email address that is the important factor.
If you have a website then you should have an autoresponder. The autoresponder should have a form building facility within it, and if it has not then change it for one that has, since opt-in forms are an essential part of your business. While your autoresponder and opt-in form will do most of the work for you, your job is to drive people to the page that contains the form. This can be your home page, a page on your site - in fact some have the form on EVERY page on their site - or on what is known as a squeeze page. That is a page designed specifically to squeeze the email address from visitors than land on it. Squeeze pages can be very effective in building lists.
