In the next few months towns and cities across Europe will be coming alive with the lights, sounds and smells of Christmas markets. European Christmas markets are truly a magical place and it's not just because of the fantastic shopping that can be had. All the traditional wooden stalls and streets are decorated with lights, Farther Christmas figures, holly, mistletoe and some of the most beautiful Christmas decorations you will see. It will make even the biggest Christmas humbug feel a child like excitement again.
One of the best Christmas markets in Britain has to be the one held in Bath. Each year just outside the ancient Roman Baths and the beautiful bath Abbey the area is transformed in to a winter wonderland. 123 wooden stalls fill the streets each selling hand crafted and unique gifts and items to make your Christmas that extra bit special. The retailers hand crafted and unique products are all local made or produced in the South West, making the market very different to any other you will come across, this individuality just adds to the atmosphere of the event.
One of the definite high lights of the market is the many food stalls. Where better to try some truly delicious food than surrounded by lights and decorations on a cold and crisp winter's night, after all they do say food tastes better outside. There is a whole range of food and drink on offer, from traditional mulled wine and mince pies to locally produced organic burgers to some genuine traditional German Bratwurst which has become synonymous with Christmas markets.
If great food, drink and shopping are not quite enough and you want to even more then there is plenty of entertainment on offer. The stunning Bath Abbey not only provides a great back drop being light up in all its splendor, but also hold services, including special 'shopping service' which is a shorted service specially for the Christmas Market shoppers. The Sound of choirs fills the Abbey and filter out into the market creating a magical atmosphere. There are numerous children's entertainers, magicians and musicians to keep peoples of all ages entertain throughout the night and make this a great Christmas treat.
