Of all the memories one can accrue in a lifetime, few are as special and as precious as your Wedding Day. No other day, beside the birth of a child, is as anticipated and prepared for as the day you marry the love of your life. Especially that moment when the bride appears, adorned in a beautiful dress, full of hope and anticipation. The one walk she will remember for the rest of her life is that walk down the aisle, with her dress flowing behind her.

That enchanted moment did not just happen, the magic was brought about through weeks and possibly months of planning, preparation, and rehearsal. It seems like a million separate pieces must fall together at just the right time to make that special day perfect. Everything from the food to the music, the décor, the invitations, and the wedding favors are worried over and scrutinized in meticulous detail. Wonderful and unique wedding favors are particularly important as a means to thank the guests for their attendance, gifts, and participation.

Many people will hire a professional wedding planner to take the burden of the event off the bride and groom so that they can enjoy their experience. Whether you hire it out or plan it all yourself, the one thing you cannot escape is the choosing of the Wedding Party.

There are ten members of the traditional American wedding party including the bride and groom. Each participant has a very specific and vital role to play. Many people who participate in the wedding party are as nervous as the bride and groom but with a little practice, everything comes together to make the perfect day.

The best man is usually the groom's best friend or a very close family member. He stands with the best man during most of the ceremony. His counterpart is the maid of honor or matron of honor if she is a married woman. Likewise, she is a very special person to the bride. While they have important roles to play, their main function is one of support.

Further out from the best man and maid or matron of honor are the groomsmen and the bridesmaids. They are also a big means of support for the bride and groom. They dress alike and add plenty of enthusiasm to the wedding and reception. The bridesmaid attend all the pre and post wedding parties in support of the bride and the groomsmen act as back-up ushers for the wedding itself. You might say they are the backbone of the entire affair, taking care of many of the smaller duties.

To round out the wedding party you have a flower girl, usually a child who spreads flowers before the brides walk down the aisle. There is also a ring bearer. Like the flower girl, this is usually a young boy who will carry the ring on a satin pillow. Then you have the ushers and junior bridesmaids. The ushers seat the guests as they arrive and the junior bridesmaids act socially with the guests, attending their needs and looking cute in their matching dresses. A wonderful wedding would not be the same without this important support team in place. If you ever get the opportunity to take part in one of these roles, you should take it. It will be an extraordinary social experience you will not forget.
