Fashion & Cosmetics Articles - How To Get A Well Fitted Suit

A suit can be an expensive purchase, so it makes sense that you want it to feel just right. If the measurements feel good and the suit fits you well, you will feel confident and enjoy wearing it. But if even one measurement is slightly off, the suit will probably end up hiding in the back of your wardrobe and you will hardly ever wear it.

So what makes a suit a good fit for you?

The first thing to be aware of is that everyone has a different idea of what looks and feels good. Some men will go for the traditional cut of the trousers for example. This means they will drop perfectly down your legs with just one fold in them where they sit on top of your shoes.

Some men go for shorter lengths than this, and don't seem happy unless their choice of socks is fully on show as they are walking along. There is nothing wrong with this if you like this style; indeed it seems to be fashionable in some circles to go for this look.

You do need to be aware of other requirements if you want to wear your suit trousers shorter though. For example the legs should be narrower in order to avoid the appearance of having bought the wrong length, rather than specifically going for that length as a style statement.

You also need to consider what style of suit you want to wear in the first place. A skinny suit will be figure hugging whereas a standard style suit won't be worn as close to your body. Which style do you feel more comfortable in?

The best way to get a suit that fits you perfectly is to be measured for it properly. Even if you are buying off the peg you will have a much better idea of what sizes to look for and how they should fit you.

When you start trying on various suits and styles, always be aware of how they look in the shoulder area. There is a very good reason for this. The sleeves and trouser legs can always be taken up if need be, but not even the best tailor can make a suit bigger in the shoulders. If this part of the jacket sits properly on your own shoulders and the sleeves drop down perfectly at the ends, you are wearing a well fitting jacket. The sleeves should never come out from the shoulders; if they do the jacket is too small for you.

Mens suits take time to purchase because you need to ensure you have the right fit and style for you. If you spend that time to make sure you get every aspect just right, you will end up with a great looking suit you will love wearing over and over again.
