People in the United States, and those in other modern countries, are eating more (and more of the wrong stuff) and exercising less or getting no exercise at all. So many of us think we are too busy to spend 30 minutes each day exercising.

Sadly, this is resulting in a society where more and more people are overweight. This problem is resulting in a strain on the health care industry since being overweight can cause a myriad of health problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease, to name a few. It also results in more sick days from work.

The solution is not impossibly difficult: Exercise 30 minutes several days a week, and replace junk food with fruits and vegetables.

Most people know that exercising can actually increase your energy level, which helps you get more done each day. It also improves your attitude, something we desperately need in parts of this world where road rage is becoming the norm.

Aerobic Exercise

It is not hard to exercise aerobically for at least 30 minutes three times per week. Aerobic exercise has been proven to release powerful hormones that actually counteract the harmful chemicals and results of stress as it will also improve your body's abilities to cope with oxidants.

It also adds variety to your exercise routine, maintaining interest. Taking part in any type of aerobic exercise greatly improves a person's health and fitness levels and of course, it can also be effective in weight loss since different types of aerobic activities help to burn more calories and for that reason can be combined with a healthy diet to produce even more health benefits.

Aerobic activity can involve any type of exercise that raises a person's metabolism. Then after exercise, the cool down is basically gently moving the muscles and joints to stretch and relax, as your body returns to its normal pace.

Walking

If aerobic exercise does not interest you, perhaps you prefer walking. Walking daily or at least three to five times a week, depending on your schedule, is a great form of exercise. It also gets you out in the fresh air.

Walking can all be done with no equipment, unless you invest in an MP3 so you can enjoy your favorite music. Many people download favorite podcasts to listen to as they walk.

Walking is a safe movement that isn't likely to cause injury. New studies have shown that walking is also a terrific way to improve your mood.

The evidence is clear: you can enjoy the benefits of physical activity with the equivalent of walking a half an hour, three or five days a week.

Swimming

Swimming has been found to be the easiest on your body. Unlike with running or even walking, your body does not experience any jarring.

Swimming is a great way to build up your lungs, improve your muscle tone, and improve your cardiovascular system. For most people, half an hour swimming laps in a pool several times a week would be an excellent way to keep their body in shape.

Conclusion

Before starting any exercise routine check with your doctor to ensure there is no physical reason you should not be exerting yourself. Your doctor can also instruct you what exercise is the best for your situation.
