With more and more gaming consoles being put onto the market, it can be difficult deciding which one is for you. Often the games provided on these consoles are similar, yet others offer different games which can be more attractive to different users of these consoles. The choice is vast and complicated with each promising to be better than the rest, so in this article I'm going to aim to show you the differences between the main three consoles available at the moment; the PS3, the Wii and the XBOX 360.

Both the XBOX 360 and the PS3 are handheld gaming consoles, providing first person shooters and real life simulation games. These consoles are typically offering the same games yet some games are exclusively set to each console such as 'Heavy Rain' which is exclusively for PS3 and 'Halo' for the XBOX 360.

Yet, the Wii is a brand new innovation in game playing invented by Nintendo. This gaming console provides something that other gaming consoles cannot provide, the ability to be the game itself. This console allows the user to actually play tennis and golf. Most of the games you find on the shelves for the Wii will not often be attached to the PS3 or XBOX 360; this is because Nintendo have formulated a brand new way of gaming. Games exclusive to the Wii are 'Mario Kart'.

Yet the PlayStation company have provided something on the PS3 that Microsoft haven't with the XBOX 360 and what Nintendo haven't with the Wii which is the ability to play blu-ray discs. As HD-TV is becoming more apparent in many homes the ability to play blu-ray from a gaming console is beginning to look more and more attractive as blu-ray players themselves can often be quite expensive. Purchasing a PS3 for this option is a rather cost friendly choice. Also, a PS3 may be a favorable choice against a Wii due to the fact that the Wii cannot play normal DVD's either. The XBOX 360 can.

When playing games often the graphics can be one of the most important factors when buying a console as what the game looks like is just as important as what the game is about. Everybody wants to feel like they are in the game when playing, don't they?

Out of all three, the PS3 comes top again with a 550MHz graphic processor. The PS3 also has a HD feature too meaning games are crisper and sharper on this console than on any other. The XBOX 360 comes in second with a 500MHz processor meaning that games are also of very high quality on a good television set with this console. Unfortunately the Wii comes last with its 243MHz graphic processor, this is 50% lower than what the PS3 and XBOX 360 are offering making it a bad choice for people who enjoy good quality picture when game playing.

It has to be said though, gaming consoles can be expensive and so price can play an important role when choosing to buy a console. Overall, the Wii is a clear winner this time coming in at around $200, this is a relatively reasonable price for such an innovative console, and with the games it offers such as Wii Fit Plus, you'll save a lot more money on gym fees! Coming in second is the XBOX 360 at around $250, and for the graphics and quality of games available for this console, this price is not to be sniffed at and finally coming in third is the PS3 coming in at around $350, but you do pay for quality.

When buying a console you should research and test. You don't want to buy the wrong one.
