Blogging as we know it started in late 1990s. It was a way to comment about someone's webpage, an opportunity for visitors to react and voice their opinion about what they had read. What started as a single-sentence comment has evolved into pages of personal commentary and review about every subject you can possibly imagine. Blogging has become so popular that internet marketers have began to tap into this huge opportunity to sell their goods and services to an untapped market. As the world wide web continues to evolve, you will see a continued use of blog sites to promote e-commerce. Why blog?

First of all blogging is simple. The simplest way to have a presence on the net is through blogging. Very few skills are necessary-if you can read, type, and click a mouse - you can blog. If you have access to a computer and an Internet connection (who doesn't?) then you can blog.

Secondly blogging is more personal than traditional advertising. In this day and age where advertising is done with endorsements from movie stars and celebrities, it is refreshing to hear from ordinary people talking about their lives, loves, and passions. A blog gives a sense of credibility to the writer and by association, to their products as well. Building trust is the primary benefit marketers will derive from a quality blog presence on the web.

Thirdly, blogging is inexpensive. If you are new to internet marketing, you can set up a blog site for very little, however, when your budget is large enough you should consider upgrading. You will need to spend time and effort if you want to provide quality content for your readers. People are more apt to read your information if it is presented in a clear, professional manner. There are many tools available to accomplish this. I recommend Word Press as one of the best sites to build your blog presence. They provide a wide range of tools and accessories to build your blog site.

Forth blogging has the potential to increase your market share.

· Your new blog site should contain links to your company home page. You must provide the opportunity for your readers to find out more about your company and the product or services you provide. This word-of-mouth advertising is one method to grow your business.

· Use your blog to high light one of your products. Why is your product better than your competition? What problem does your product solve?

· Offer discount coupons or other "gifts" to your blog site visitors. Not only will your number of visitors increase, but you will gain valuable information about the people visiting your blog site.

· Use your blog to survey your readers. What do they like about your product? What don't they like? What products would they like to see available? How often do they purchase this product? Etc. etc. This can serve as a starting point for new product development.

· Join a blog network. There are networks for every conceivable group or subject you can imagine. People who visit your site are there because they have an interest in what you are doing. Targeted visitors are the best you can ask for. If you have done your work properly, these visitors will be easier to convert to customers
· Use RSS feeds to support your blogging effort. RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a fast growing technology used on the Internet today. Loyal visitors to your site can use an RSS feed to receive new information from you as soon as it is posted. This allows them to stay current with what is being posted on your blog. You have the opportunity to "feed" information to potential customers.

A well-constructed blog site should be a part of every internet marketing strategy. Without a blog, you are slowing your growth and leaving money on the table!
