Because Vitaly Petrov will be driving for Renault, F1 betting is going to have the 1st Russian driver on the board this season. It's been a long season for team Ferrari, a team that's viewed as F1 betting royalty, in each sense of the word, as the team's victories have been few and far between. However, over the weekend this team was in fine form as its number one driver and former F1 probabilities champ Fernando Alonso grabbed his second victory of the year by winning the German Grand Prix in Hockenhiem.

But the win was much more than only a F1 betting victory; it was a lifeline for a once great squad that is battling tooth and nail to remain relevant in the F1 probabilities action. With the win in Germany, the squad has only two for the entire season, as this squad has been little more than an afterthought for most of this year.

Alonso won the 1st F1 betting competition of the year in Bahrain however the squad has basically played a distant 3rd fiddle all year to the Red Bull and McLaren teams which have dominated the F1 racing in 2010.

Team Red Bull and McLaren have won nine of the contests out of the eleven F1 betting contests at the sportsbooks this year, and the teams enjoy huge leads in both the driver rankings and the Constructor Cup competitions.

Even with the 1-2 finish in Germany (Felipe Massa ended second after he controversially appeared to let Alonso pass him for the victory) and 208 points, team Ferrari is still almost 100 points behind McLaren, which has 300 points, in the team rankings. They have no real shot at earning either the top driver or squad honors.

The 4 top spots in the driver rankings are all held down by the two McLaren drivers and the Red Bulls. With 157 points, former F1 betting champion Lewis Hamilton leads all drivers after a 4th place finish in Germany. He's trailed in the rankings by teammate and reigning F1 champion Jenson Button (143) who struggled to a fifth place finish.

The Red Bulls still trail McLaren even though they've competed well. Sebastian Vettel maintained a 3rd place podium finish, and teammate Mark Webber came in sixth. In the driver rankings, both drivers are now evened up for 3rd with 136 points.
