If You Can't Say Something Nice

If you can't say something nice
Than restrain from vocal vice
Say no to noise pollution
Soulish contamination
Internal aggravation
Ridicule and degradation
Tearing down another for self-exaltation
Fault finding without hesitation
Let it go friend and show mercy
For one day you too will need it
Therefore learn to love and give it
Yield to the higher law
The law of love
Unconditionally love and live
Make criticism a past practice
Instead encourage
Uplift with your words
Because the world is negative enough already
And has no need of conversations petty
Let your words be gracious and build up
Otherwise endeavor to be silent and shut up
Don't speak until you can grow up
Examine yourself and fess up
To your own unfinished business
Before you pridefully project yourself in self-righteousness
Learn to exercise humility and show compassion
Work at foregoing repeated privacy invasion
Draw your boundaries
Set your borders
Purpose your perimeters
Before quickly rendering your opinion and measuring
Others by your standards of judgment
For one day such scales may turn back on you
What then shall you do?
Try therefore to be calm and kind
When you do, blessings shall come unto you
New friends and discoveries you will find
Let not your words perilously grind
Before uttering careless words
Take some time
To search your heart
Examine your goals
Determine if your words shall wound
Or make one whole
For many recklessly speak
By which they kill, steal, and destroy
I say the time has come
To new methods and manners employ
Let go of senseless sarcasm
With human beings feelings let go of
Entertaining yourself at others expense
Such disregard makes no sense
Forget the need to be cute and toy
Instead seek love, peace, and joy.
