Making your own free printable greeting cards at home has never been easier than it is today. Why not give it a shot? Let's face it; there is no one in the world who knows what you would like your greeting card to say better than you, right. Ok then, all you will need is a computer, printer, maybe some software and an idea. I'm going to make the assumption that you have a computer and printer since you are reading this article. Software is something you will need to complete this but don't panic you may have all you need already. Do you have Microsoft Word, Photoshop, or some other software of that nature? If so great! If not, don't worry, it can be solved without hitting you in the pocket book. Simply go to the internet and search for "Free printable greeting card software", you will find that there is no shortage on the amount of usable software for the purpose of making your own greeting cards. I would suggest finding one you are comfortable with and gives you the ability to edit your entire greeting card front to back. Next we need an idea. Maybe you have some already which is great if not I would suggest going to the internet again and searching greeting cards and look through a few to get your creativity rolling. It helps me a lot to see what others have done to get an original idea of my own. Another suggestion in searching the internet for ideas would be that before you start your search you make some basic determinations like weather you want the card to be funny, sentimental, romantic etc. The idea here is that you include these types of words in your search to cut down on the amount of time you spend sifting through pages of cards. Another thing to think about is making the card or cards personal. Snapping a photo of the family and putting it on the front of a greeting card is one of the ways I think of when personalizing a greeting card and with everything being digital these days it is easy to do. Ok, we have all the ingredients, now it's time to make the card. If you have downloaded free printable greeting card software just follow the steps outlined for that software. If you are using Word or Photoshop you will need to decide if you are going to make a quarter fold card or a half fold card. If you make a half fold greeting card you will need two pages, one page for the front and back and one page for the inside of the card. Once you have your design done and are ready to print, you will need to print the front page first then put the front page back in the printer usually face up and print the inside of the card. That's it. The quarter fold method of free printable greeting cards is not hard at all. For this type of card you can see that your front image goes on the right top, the back of the card is on the left top. Your inside text goes on the left bottom and needs to be upside down in order to come out of the printer right. Once the card is designed just fold it in half horizontally and then in half vertical and your done. The last thing I would add to make your cards personal is to put something to the effect of "Created by" and your name.
