Depending on where you are in the greater Los Angeles area, the cost of Los Angeles lasik vision correction varies by hundreds - or even thousands - of dollars. This isn't because of the quality of the surgeon or the procedure. It has to do with a number of factors, like rent prices, equipment costs, salaries and perceived value. In outlying areas like Fullerton, Glendale and Thousand Oaks there are many qualified, board-certified surgeons who are excellent choices for laser corrective surgery. The cost for Lasik at these clinics generally runs about $1,200 per eye. Financing is usually available, and necessary as the procedure isn't usually covered by medical insurance.

The cost of Los Angeles lasik vision correction goes up as you get into pricier neighborhoods. Fees for Lasik in the South Bay area of Los Angeles can run anywhere from under $1,000 per eye to over $3,000 per eye depending on the doctor and where he's located - less affluent neighborhoods in the South Bay like Inglewood and Hawthorne charge less for rent, and the salaries for clinic staff are lower, too. These eye doctors are catering toward a more working-class clientele than in the posher areas and, while the doctor may be highly qualified, the prices they charge reflect that. In more expensive areas like Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach, the doctors' overhead is higher, and their fees are based accordingly. The higher-income patients in these areas also have an expectation that quality will come at a higher price, and may distrust a less expensive surgeon. It doesn't make sense, but perceived value is an important factor in setting prices.

Nowehere is perceieved value a bigger influence on cost than in the wealthier areas of Los Angeles. Patients getting Los Angeles lasik vision correction in Beverly Wills, Santa Monica and the Wilshire district expect to get the best, and they expect to pay top dollar. The eye surgeons in these areas are among the best in the country, and their prices reflect that. They also pay much, much more for rents and employees' salaries, and will usually have the best, ost expensive, newest equipment available. Many people feel that it's worth paying more to be assured that they're getting the very best service and aftercare - after all, your vision is one of the most important things in your life. If you can afford to pay top dollar for surgery, Beverly Hills and Wilshire are definitely the places to get the best. But if you aren't made of money, there are still good, board-qualified surgeons in other parts of Los Angeles who will do just as good a job at Lasik, but will have a less devastating effect on your budget.
