Although floors are very often hidden by furniture and carpets, and although people step on it, they cannot be considered as a minor feature of any room. Depending on the type of floor that you choose, your house or shop will get a special style and light, to say nothing of artistic mosaics, which can make a room unique. When you install a floor, you must choose the type of floors and the materials with care, and not only for aesthetic reasons: some materials have specific peculiarities that make them fitter than others to be used in rooms where hygiene or thermal insulation are extremely important. Moreover, you need to keep in mind that floors are not like a table or a chair, which we can decide to replace often: on the contrary, you always hope that they will last long.

For all of these reasons the choice of the floor is an important one, which you should not take lightly, a choice that should be done keeping the style of the room into consideration, as the aesthetic factor holds considerable weight, but you also should choose the best material as functionality is concerned. There are many materials that can be used for floors, from wood to marble, from resin to porphyry, and each one is fitter than others for given purposes. First of all, we can make a distinction between external and internal flooring. In the first case, you can choose among porphyry, an ancient material that never goes out of fashion, brick floors and klinker, but you can find also stone, marble, granite and even wood floorings (some parquet floorings are very resistant and fit also outdoors). All these materials are good for porches, gardens and balconies, and you can choose them depending on your personal taste and the style of your house.

The choice is very wide also as far as flooring for the interior is concerned. There are rooms where hygiene is extremely important, like bathrooms or rooms where there are children. In these cases the best choice are resin floors, which have many other advantages. Firstly, these floors can be installed on the old floor, which reduces a lot installation costs. Secondly, resin floors have neither chinks nor joints, which makes it easier to wash it. Among other materials used for the interior, we cannot but speak about wood. Wood floors have numberless advantages: wood is an excellent thermal and sound insulator, but it is also one of the nicest material to see, and it can make each room warm and cosy. Moreover, some types of parquets are moisture resistant and can be used not only for bedrooms, but also for bathrooms and kitchens, and for external floorings as well. Marble is the perfect material if you wish to give a touch of luxury and elegance to your house, but both the installation and the material itself can be very expensive.
