Are You on the Some Day Road
It's so easy to put your plans, goals and dreams on hold. There's always so much to do and never enough time in which to get it done. Like a lot of people, your "To Do" list is probably much longer than you want it to be.
When it comes to setting priorities and managing your time, it may seem practical to do what's most urgent and move your plans, goals and dreams to the bottom of your list. The problem with that strategy is that you may never achieve your heart's desire. For too many people, waiting for some day to start a business, go back to school, take a trip - you name it - means it will never happen. A someday mindset can have you planted firmly in the land of nowhere.
It's time to take your life off layaway. To help you get started, try these action steps:
Make a List of All the Things You'd Like to Do in Your Life Time - A couple of years ago, everyone was making a list of the 100 things they wanted to accomplish during their life time. Maybe you made your own list. If you did, pull it out. If you didn't join the craze, take time now to make your "Top 100" list. Don't edit, don't doubt, just write.
Make a Plan - Decide how you want to tackle your list. Do you want to start at number one? Do you want to start with the easiest tasks first? Do you want to pull numbers out of a hat?
Select Your First Item - Once you've decided on a plan, get started with your first selection. Write it in on your calendar. Tell the people in your life what you're up to, so that they can support you. Decide how you will celebrate once you've achieved success.
Take Action Every Day - Every single day, do at least one thing that's going to help you accomplish the goal you're working on. It can be as simple as acknowledging yourself for trying. The important thing is that you're taking small steps every day to make things happen.
If you're on the Someday road, headed to Nowhere, it's time to get off. Follow the steps I've outlined above. If you would like more encouragement on your success journey, check out my new power tool: A Woman's Success Journal - Empowering Words to Inspire Your Dreams.
