Subaru Limited, the division of the Japanese automaker in the United Kingdom, has partnered with Prodrive, an auto engineering company, to help raise approximately £60,000 for Oxford Children's Hospital. Last year, the venture has raised a total of £50,000.

More than 4,000 motorsport fans swarmed Prodrive's second charity open day in Banbury - the headquarters of the Subaru World Rally Team. This is where one of the prizes on offer was the use of a Subaru Tribeca SE5 worth over £32,000.

Paul Slack of Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent was the lucky winner. Slack paid £5 to be entered into the prize draw for use of the vehicle until April 2008. Subaru has agreed to cover any servicing costs, whilst Paul will pay for insurance and fuel. "We attended the first open day as our 14-year-old daughter, Hannah, is a huge Subaru and rally fan and this year even our younger daughter Amy attended so she could help to raise money for such a good cause," Slack noted.

"Hannah can barely wait until she's old enough to own and drive her own Subaru." He added, "I currently run an Audi A6 and my wife Alison, has a Chrysler Grand Voyager but we are very excited at the prospect of driving the Tribeca until April. We have just returned from a two week holiday in Devon/open day as our 14 year old daughter, Hannah, is a huge Subaru and rally fan and this year even our younger daughter Amy attended so she could help to raise money for such a good cause. Hannah can barely wait until she's old enough to own and drive her own Subaru."

"I currently run an Audi A6 and my wife Alison, has a Chrysler Grand Voyager but we are very excited at the prospect of driving the Tribeca until April. We have just returned from a two week holiday in Devon / Dorset and the Tribeca has been a joy to drive and has handled the twisting roads extremely competently," Slack stressed.

The Subaru Tribeca is available in two five-seat trim levels comprising 3.0 S5 and 3.0 SE5 and the 3.0 SE7. Standard equipment includes eight-way powered front seats, front, side and curtain airbags, dual-zone air-conditioning, six-disc CD autochanger with nine speakers and MP3 playback and a leather-covered steering wheel with remote audio controls. Also, the automaker is currently offering customers five years' free servicing, five years' warranty, five years' Home and Roadside Assistance and five years' Zero Percent Finance.

Priced from a £29,097 on-the-road, the car features a 3.0 liter 245 PS six-cylinder horizontally-opposed engine, five-speed automatic gearbox and full-time symmetrical all-wheel drive and Subaru Vehicle Dynamics Control (SVDC). Additionally, Prodrive is responsible for the development of special edition and high performance product lines of the automaker. The engineering company also provides driving experiences for the public at their development site in Warwick.

The 2008 Tribeca was dramatically restyled. The engine is now a 3.6 L to raise the power increased to 270 hp. The automaker claims ten percent better fuel economy while using regular fuel. All-new Tribeca features enhanced rear end, more rounded tail lamps and the hatch above the bumper was eliminated. Interior styling is unchanged. However, the second row seats have been redesigned for more room and easier access. The car also maintains trusted auto parts like the Subaru spoiler, radiator, filter and the like. The refreshed Tribeca bears much similarity to concept mock-ups of the Saab 9-6X.
