Jack The Ripper - The Police Net Closes In

A special investigation team set up by London's Scotland Yard crime unit has drawn up a detailed description -- including a photo-fit picture of the male killer.

It is now only a matter of time before the killer faces justice -- except for one thing.

Having committed five of the most heinous murders in the history of London, the killer who is now described as male, aged between 25 and 35 and between 5 foot five inches and five foot seven inches tall, will never face British justice, as the crimes were committed 118 years ago. So, despite the police also being able to pinpoint the location where the killer probably lived, there is little point in starting a house to house search.

This latest investigation into the infamous and vicious murder of five prostitutes in 1888 has been conducted using the very latest in police methods. Consequently it has got further than any previous investigation -- albeit too late to apprehend the villain.

A team headed by Laura Richards, who is head of crime analysis for Scotland Yard's Violent Crime Command was assisted by pathologists, historians and a geographic profiler. She was also assisted by former London police commander, John Grieve.

Richards, who has in the past studied two modern killers: serial killer Fred West and double child killer, Ian Huntley, claims the evidence shows what the killer looked like, where he lived and why he escaped justice. Apart from not being able to come up with such a detailed description and location for the killer, the police investigating the murder 118 years ago would have also had a further disadvantage. This is because the killer -- when not involved in his cruel and frenzied killing -- would almost certainly appear as completely normal and sane.
