What Is Depression And How Do You Know?

To feel sad time to time is a normal part of life. But when loneliness and despair take hold and won't go away, it may be depression. You may feel yourself exhausted all the time and just like to pass the day. You may also notice that hobbies and friends with whom you ones get most interested are not that much interesting for you. When you are in depression all the things may seem to you hopeless but with the support and help of your dear one's you can get better.

During life when we lost something or not able to do the things we intended we feel sadness. Usually people take it as a depression while talking that but to feel sad & to be in depression are totally different things. If you want to easily distinguish between these two you can say that sadness is a temporary feeling while the depression is a long time feeling.

Some people believe that depression is state where one thinks to suicide or live lonely. Well it's not a thing depression is a state in which you continuously feel sadness which effects your day to day work life. It interferes with your ability to work, study, eat, sleep, and have fun. The feelings of helplessness, hopelessness, and worthlessness are intense and unrelenting.

How do you know that you are depressed?

Well there are some symptoms by which you easily asses yourself about depression. Some of the symptoms are listed below:

• When you feel hopeless and helpless
• When you feel irritated by all the things and short-tempered than usual
• When you are not able to control your negative thoughts
• When you sleep more than usual or just not able to sleep
• When you eat too much then usual or just don't eat any
• When you feel that there is nothing in life for which you should live
• When you find difficult to concentrate on any topic

Remember don't asses these symptoms just for a short time if these symptoms you observe for a long time only then it can be said that it's a depression otherwise it's just a sadness for a setback of life.

Causes of Depression

There are various reasons when a person gets into depression. If we going to assess about the most common reasons of the depression today are first comes stress of the work & responsibilities and the second one is surprising or sudden lost in life.

Today's as the world progresses we come to see many depressed people than in the past. The reason behind is that with the progress & competition people having more work than usual. They are always under pressure of the target & work completion. Other than that one's responsibilities towards family is hard to fulfill today. Due to this constant pressure of work and responsibilities person living in constant stress that ultimately lead into the depression. Many people even don't know that he/she is in depression because they not able find out the reason for that.

The other reason is sudden lost in life in this situation; a person has experienced a sudden, perhaps surprising severe loss. This loss may be the death of a loved one, loss of a job, loss of friendship, or other grief process. In this type of depression, the patient can clearly identify what is creating the depressed mood.

There are also several other reasons for depression which are listed below:

• Abuse by anyone in the past
• Inherited
• A long time severe illness
• Starvation

Treatment of Depression

Almost all type of depression can cured but it's important to take the person suffering from depression treated as early as possible. There are different ways of the treatments like there are several therapies and medications. Depressed person can also go for a counseling session to find out the reason of the depression some time it helps to get out of depression at the early stages.
