Anyone who owns carpeting knows that it can be difficult to maintain. The time spent is well worth it however given the high cost of replacement. In this article learn four quick carpet care tips.

Tip number one is to vacuum your carpets often. This is the most important step in carpet care. Try to vacuum at least twice a week if possible. This will remove the soils in your carpet that cause it to wear out prematurely.

Tip number two is to clean spots as soon as possible. The longer they sit, the harder they will be to remove. Spot clean spots as soon as possible with a quality cleaning chemical that is designed for use on stain resistant carpet. This is important. Do not use chemicals that are not designed for use on carpeting.

That brings us to tip number three which is related to number two. When spot cleaning never harshly scrub your carpet. Use only a light blotting motion. If it doesn't come out with a gentle blotting then you are using the wrong chemical. Let the chemical do the work instead of scrubbing which could distort the carpet fibers.

Tip number four is to use door mats. A good door mat will trap soil before it enters your home and gets onto your carpet. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure so try to stop the soil before it gets into your home.

Hopefully these four tips will help you greatly extend the life of your carpets. They do not take long to put into affect but will do wonders. Good luck.
